:new:It's 11:00 PM for me here in Central Time and that means it's about time to close the book on this one. I'll accept any late stragglers, up until around noon tomorrow, but that's it! If you've not gotten your entry in by then, you're out!:new:

Hey yall. The April 10th deadline is coming up fast. So far I've received eight entries and it looks like it's gonna be a tough judging process.

That said, I've had a few people here and there hinting that maybe they could use an extension. So shout out in the comments below - do you need more time? Or is the remaining six days enough time to get it all done? I'm perfectly fine with putting off the judging process for while, maybe even until summer break. If enough people need it, I can pull the deadline back at least another week, more if necessary.

News

Things have been quiet here at TheTitlePage, but not without reason. Back in the Admin area, we’ve been making some plans and we think we’re ready to kick off the group proper with a contest!

Because this project is still very new, we’re going to keep things simple for now. Our first contest will be a free-for-all, no theme, no stringent requirements. All we ask is that you follow the normal rules (posted below for easy access), and do not exceed 30 lines. However, you are welcome to use as many titles as you want :)

Title Poem Rules

1. Each line must be the title of a work found somewhere on deviantART. Any type of art goes. Literature, Traditional, Photography, Film - creative titles aren't limited to one medium.

2. Minor modification is allowed. You can add small words like and, but, with, I, you, or, by. You can change the tense of a word, such as run/ ran/ running. You can change the plurality of a word as in book and books.

3. BUT, you can't just remove/insert a word altogether. You should keep as close to the original title as possible. Which leads to...

4. A single title can only be modified once. Please do not forget this rule, especially if you choose to string several titles together in one line!

5. Modification of punctuation and/or capitalization does not count. You are free to add or take away commas and periods, change all caps titles, or correct misspellings.

6. YOU MUST LINK ALL THE PIECES USED. This is a sort of community project after all - your poems will help bring exposure to many artists!

7. And please notify the artists that you have used their titles :)

8. Your own title must either be of another dA piece OR a title someone else could use for their own found poem.

Now, what’s in it for you? Well . . .

Prizes!

First Place

- 1000 :points:
- Interview/feature for 1st. + a critique on two pieces of winner's choosing from travelgirlxx
- Interview from imaginative-lioness
- A copy of CaptainRandom’s new book The Clocksmith
- A photo print from TwilightPoetess

Second Place

- 500 :points:
- A critique on a piece of their choosing from travelgirlxx

Third Place

- 300 :points:

All winners will receive features from disrhythmic, imaginative-lioness, AzizrianDaoXrak, Sammur-amat, camelopardalisinblue, TwilightPoetess, DrippingWords, travelgirlxx, RiseandBe, and PoeticalCondition.

Other Important Stuff

I've chosen to open the contest now because it's Spring Break for me, and it either is for many others, or soon will be. That should give everyone a bit of free time to devote to hunting down their titles and composing a poem from them :) I'm setting the deadline to April 10th - that's a month to get your entry in! Only one entry per contestant please. However, you are free to write as many title poems as you like and may change your entry if you write a better poem later. You may submit your entry to the Contest Folder, or note them to me, SilverInkblot.

Good luck, and happy title hunting!

Whenever the other judges get back to me, or whenever I get tired of waiting for them :XD: If not this weekend, then certainly by the next one.

Damnit I so totally want to enter, but I'll just cheer on slackers from the sidelines instead.

ALSO YAY SHARED TIME ZONE.

You can still get something in - I'm nothing if not flexible :XD: Contests dependent on time zones always leave me confused, so I'm willing to bend my own a bit for that reason.

Since we are allowed to add small words like and, but, with, I, you, or, by, I hope we are also allowed to remove them? :eager:
I just submitted my contest entry and I'm so freaking excited! Best of luck to everyone! :la:

I hadn't actually thought about that. As long as it's kept to those very small words, I think that would be an okay modification to the rule.

I just took out one "the"
and changed one word from plural to singular by
removing an "s"
those the only modifications I've made
throughout the entire piece. :la:

On the same title? Because that might mess with the "one modification per title" rule.

Since my entry is already in (and my title has been used by others!) I don't need an extension.
I think you should make up your mind without my two cents, but with your common sense.
But I wouldn't extend much longer, if I were you.
Good luck, whatever you decide.

Such an interesting contest. I've started working on something for it, but I'm not sure if I'll finish it. It's so much more difficult than I thought it would be!
Just a small question, would it be possible to change the word "you" to "us" within a title, or is that too much of a modification?

:iconsilverinkblot:
SilverInkblot Featured By Owner Apr 5, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
I think that would count as a single modification, so it should be fine as long as you don't alter anything else.

Oh, and one other thing. If I had a possible idea for TheTitlePage, where would I submit it? Just a slight foreshadow, my ideas are never strokes of genius, so there's a high chance it's dumb, so you don't have to worry about telling me! :) Just somebody else was possibly interested in the idea, so I thought of bringing it up.....

I could use an extention, although if it means waiting longer for results I'll try and do my best without it. I don't like contests that go one forever; sadly, experience taught me they have a tendency to be forgotten and abandoned.

Question: for "8. Your own title must either be of another dA piece OR a title someone else could use for their own found poem" - does it mean it can or can not be an original title? I'm confused. :XD:

When the rules say "Only one modification per title..." (and I realize that doesn't mean capital letters or punctuation) do you mean only one word per modification on a title?
Example:
Can a modifier be "But she" or must it only be one word? The two words would never dissect a title, I realize that.
Reply
:iconsilverinkblot:
SilverInkblot Featured By Owner Mar 25, 2013  Hobbyist Writer
One word, yes. But, in this case, it wouldn't be very hard to find a title consisting of "but" or "she," so there are still ways around that rule.
